why here?
Why Zahara?
There are plenty of surf schools in Spain — but few places combine such perfect waves, such a stunning beach, and so much authentic Andalusian charm as Zahara de los Atunes.
3 km of golden sand
Zahara de los Atunes has one of the most beautiful beaches in southern Spain: three kilometres of pristine sand, gentle slope into the water with no rocks, and clean Atlantic swell rolling in. A dream spot for learning to surf.
Waves for every level
From gentle whitewater for beginners to powerful peaks for advanced surfers, Zahara delivers consistent conditions year-round. The Atlantic swell arrives directly onto the beach with no obstacles.
300 days of sunshine
Cádiz is one of the sunniest spots in Europe. Water temps range from 16 to 22 °C, winters are mild and summers warm. You can surf here year-round — still in a shorty in October.
Authentic fishing village
Zahara is a real Andalusian fishing village: fresh tuna, beach chiringuitos, legendary sunsets and a laid-back vibe with no high-rise hotels. Surfing here is a genuine experience, not a package holiday.

“We've been to surf schools in Portugal and France — Yemayá is by far the best. The instructors know every sandbar, the water is crystal clear, and after surfing you get fresh fish in the village. Paradise.”
